The puppets, created in 1969, embody youthful innocence and the spirit of play. I chose to experiment and subvert their essence by bringing the characters into an imagined, adolescent context. The illustrated postcard series Sesame Street Rebels achieves this by setting the characters into the urban streetwear culture that defines the contemporary life of many teenagers today. By creating moments of high contrast between old and new, viewers are reminded of memories forgottenand prompted to consider how society, and their own lives, have changed and evolved.
